The Nichibei staff offers three words which represented Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin in 2007. Endurance, Watershed and Metamorphosis.

I’m your host, Kevin Jones and today we bring you The Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin word of the the Year 2007. The word which best describes the year 2007 at Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin. - My choice is “endurance”.

- How do you spell that?

- It’s spelled e-n-d-u-r-a-n-c-e
- Kevin:
- What is your definition of endurance?
- Yuko:
- Endurance means stamina. The ability to keep working hard. To survive.
- Kevin:
- And why do you choose this word?
- Yuko:
- As you know this past November, Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin started its 63rd year.
that’s a long time. That’s endurance! - Kevin:
- 63 years!
- Yuko:
- That’s right!

- My nomination for word of the year is… “watershed”
- Kevin:
- Watershed? how do you spell that?
- Kin:
- It’s w-a-t-e-r-s-h-e-d
- Kevin:
- And what’s the meaning?
- Kin:
- Watershed means a time of change, a turning point in history.
- Kevin:
- And why do you nominate this word?
- Kin:
- I think 2007 was an important year for language schools in Japan. It was a watershed year for language institutes like Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin.
- Kevin:
- What kind of changes do you see in the future?
- Kin:
- I think the trend in the future will be towards quality and adaptability.
- Kevin:

- Sure, my pleasure.

- Hi.

- What’s your nomination?
- Tomiko:
- I nominate the word “metamorphosis”
- Kevin:
- Wow! How do you spell that?
- Tomiko:
- The spelling is m-e-t-a-m-o-r-p-h-o-s-i-s
- Kevin:
- Tell us the definition of metamorphosis.
- Tomiko:
- You know when a caterpillar changes into a butterfly?
- Kevin:
- Yeah.
- Tomiko:
- That is metamorphosis. So metamorphosis can mean a big change or rebirth.
- Kevin:
- Why do you nominate this word?
- Tomiko:
- Because right now Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin is going through some big and exciting changes.
- Kevin:
- You mean the new Yotsuya building?
- Tomiko:
- Not only that but also new changes to our offerings.
- Kevin:
- Can you give us some examples?
- Tomiko:
- Not quite yet, but look for our metamorphosis in early 2008.
- Kevin:
